Facilitate harvesting by farmers, purchase of their produce: Yogi
CMSPEAK Ensure farmers get minimum support price for their crop
LUCKNOW : Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said farmers of Uttar Pradesh must not face any problems related to movement for harvesting their crops. “The local administration must relax the lockdown norms to help farmers harvest their crops,” he said.
“Ensure smoothness in procurement of the farmers’ produce and mandi (grain market) operations. Under any circumstances, the farmers must not be paid lower than the minimum support price,” said Yogi.
Yogi issued the instructions to officers concerned at the daily Team-11 (Covid-19 management team) meeting on Sunday afternoon.
The chief minister further stressed: “Under an alternative arrangement, the farmers should be encouraged to sell their produce at their farms or village through the FPOs (farmers-producers’ companies). But for all things related to harvesting and procurement, social distancing must not be compromised.” It may be mentioned that the harvesting season has already set in.
ONLINE TEACHING
Yogi also asked the officers concerned to consolidate online teaching for students of higher, technical, vocational, medical, nursing and paramedical studies. “Expand online teaching and consolidate it. Ensure that the lockdown does not adversely impact education. Use Doordarshan also for this,” he said.
The chief minister also said that until further orders, no religious, cultural and social programmes in public places be allowed.
People should continue to perform their religious rites and rituals at home, as several religious festivals are lined up in days to come.
The local administration should seek the help of religious leaders in their areas to send this message across.
