Yogi meets ministers again, work on key projects to begin from April 15

LUCKNOW:A day before PM Narendra Modi announces a decision on the lockdown, chief minister Yogi Adityanath met his cabinet colleagues again even as state government was ready with measures to restart economic activity by beginning constructi­on work on major projects from April 15.

Besides, all students of classes 6-9 and 11 in UP Board schools will be promoted and online classes for standards 9-12 will begin from April 20.

These decisions were taken on the basis of recommenda­tion of 11 committees of ministers that began submitting reports to the chief minister late on Monday evening. The CM had also met the ministers on Sunday and constitute­d the 11 committees headed by them to look into ways to partially resume economic activity and augment revenue.

The chief minister, who has already asked the ministers to attend their offices from April 15, told them that the future course of action would be decided on the basis of PM’s announceme­nt about the lockdown on Tuesday.

After the Monday’s meeting, deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said, “We will begin (constructi­on) work on all important projects with effect from April 15. We will begin work wherever the workers/labourers have been camping during the lockdown and social distancing will be strictly observed.”

Maurya heads the committee constitute­d to restart constructi­on work on major projects while observing social distancing.

The deputy chief minister, who also held a meeting with senior officers, said he had given final shape to the report being submitted to the chief minister.

Deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma, who chairs the committee constitute­d to work out courses for online classes in various institutio­ns, also had a detailed interactio­n with officers and experts and said his committee had decided to promote all the students from 6 to 9 and 11 standard in schools affiliated to the

Sharma said classes for students of 9, 10, 11 and 12 would begin under the e-learning module through WhatsApp from April 20.

Finance minister Suresh Khanna, who has been asked to suggest measures for unhindered flow of cash, held meetings with ministers and officers.

A senior minister and committee member said the committee suggested measures to augment revenue and the report was likely to be submitted soon. This committee is also making recommenda­tions to start the industrial units, including micro, small and medium enterprise­s (MSMEs), soon.

Another committee headed by agricultur­e minister Surya Pratap Shahi will look into problems of farmers and provide necessary facilities to them for harvesting.

Minister for medical and health Jai Pratap Singh heads the committee working on measures to protect doctors and paramedica­l staff from Covid-19 and begin emergency services for patients having cardiac or other ailments.

Minister for Jal Shakti Mahendra Singh has been appointed chairman of the committee constitute­d to monitor availabili­ty of drinking water in all the areas.
