6,000 Ayush docs, paramedics are ready to help fight Covid
LUCKNOW: A workforce of 6,000 doctors, paramedics, pharmacists and nurses, who have been trained by health department, is ready to join the medical teams treating Covid-19 patients.
The workforce includes ayurveda, homoeopath and Unani doctors and paramedical staff.
The state Ayush (ayurveda, yoga & naturopathy, Unani, siddha and homoeopathy) mission has issued directions to district magistrates to deploy them in the districts for epidemic prevention work, said a press statement from the Ayush department on Friday.
The online training includes training on protocols relating to coronavirus, infection control and management besides quarantine facilities management.
“This trained workforce will help in ongoing fight against the infection across the state,” said Rajkamal Yadav, MD Ayush Mission. “In many districts, they have already been deployed for household survey, data collection and community awareness works. The list of trained doctors and other staff has been made available to the district magistrates. They will be able to increase the necessary workforce for management of various tasks in districts,” he said. They may be deployed at Covid hospitals or for screening the masses.
Principal secretary, Ayush, Prashant Trivedi said they had been imparted training in consultation with union Ayush ministry. “Ayush has been effective in controlling infection and treating such cases. Also, with 6000 trained medical practitioners, the existing force will get the necessary boost,” said Dr Anuruddh Verma, member central council of homoeopathy (CCH).
