10 DAYS ON, SEVEN OF FAMILY FROM SADAR TEST NEGATIVE, DISCHARGED

LUCKNOW: Seven members of a family admitted at the Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences tested were discharged on Monday after all of them tested negative for coronaviru­s.

“They will now remain in home quarantine for the next 14 days and then they will be screened again,” said Prof AK Tripathi, director, Lohia institute.

The patients, all from a family in Sadar area, were brought to the hospital on April 18.

Sadar is a hotspot in the state capital from where 102 patients have tested positive so far. Their first coronaviru­s negative report came on April 25 and then a repeat for all on April 26 also came negative. Two consecutiv­e negative reports are necessary for doctors to take a call on discharge. “Two of these patients also had diabetes that made treatment tough,” said Prof Tripathi.

“Their speedy recovery is an indication that the treatment went in the right direction. Three others of their family members were discharged earlier after they tested negative on April 25,” said Dr Devashish Shukla, medical superinten­dent of the hospital block of Lohia institute. Among Lucknow residents who tested positive 37 have been cured and discharged from hospitals. In all 127 Lucknow residents tested positive till, now.
