DM suspends BDO after video of quarantine centre in Agra goes viral

AGRA: The district magistrate of Agra suspended an official on Monday after an inquiry into a video that showed people in a quarantine centre collecting food and water from under the locked gates of the facility on Sunday.

In the video it was shown that a man in protective gear was purportedly tossing biscuit packets and people inside the quarantine centre were picking those by stretching their hands through the gaps of the gate.

“Block development officer (BDO) Manish Verma has been suspended for failing in his duty. The inquiry was conducted by chief development officer (CDO),” said Prabhu N Singh, DM. Much embarrassment was caused to the Agra administration after the video, exposing the arrangements being made at quarantine centres, went viral.

It showed how the staff outside the quarantine centre was throwing water bottles and edibles toward those in quarantine.HTC
