MSMEs likely to resume production from May 4
LUCKNOW: : The Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector in Uttar Pradesh is likely to resume functioning from May 4. The Indian Industries Association (IIA), an industry lobby body of the MSME sector, conducted a statewide meeting of the association through webinar (online) on Monday in which it was decided to resume operations from May 4.
“From May 4 onwards we will start production. Till then we will try to resolve all our issues with the government. Several meetings (through webinar) are scheduled with government officials in which issues will be resolved,” said Pankaj Kumar, national president, IIA.
At present only those MSMEs units are running that are listed in the ‘essential goods’ category.
From May 4 onwards, production in industrial units listed under the ‘non-essential goods’ category is also likely to resume.
Out of an estimated nine lakh MSMEs registered with the Indian Industries Association, only around 7000 listed under the ‘essential goods’ category are operational across the state. These units are also working on half the capacity and are facing problems in continuing production. “The labour commissioner had said no FIR will be lodged against employer if his employee tests positive for coronavirus,” said Pankaj Kumar.
