Akhilesh flays UP govt over ‘Agra model’

-

LUCKNOW:: Reacting to Agra mayor’s reported statement that the Taj City could turn into India’s ‘Wuhan’, Samajwadi Party (SP) national president on Monday flayed the Uttar Pradesh government over its claims of ‘Agra Model’ of Covid-19 containment.

In a tweet on Monday morning, Akhilesh said the chief minister was publicising the Agra model a lot but according to the Agra mayor it has failed. “There are no tests, no medicines, and no facilities to attend to any other illnesses. In both and the government and private hospitals there are no ‘Jeevan Rakshak kits’ and the quarantine centres are in complete disarray,” said Akhilesh while urging the government to wake up. Agra mayor Naveen Jain had written a letter to UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath on April 21 requesting him to “save Agra”. Naveen Jain lambasted the administration for its ‘failure’ to check the rapid increase in cases and warned that if the government does not initiate remedial measures soon, the ‘Taj City’ could become India’s ‘Wuhan’.
