LUCKNOW : A fire caused damage to a residential apartment and a few offices in Indiranagar’s sector-C on Monday morning. Police said fire brigade rushed to the spot and helped people evacuate the building.

DCP (North) Shalini Yadav said, “Loss assessment is on and the cause behind it is yet to be ascertained. The fire broke out at the top floor of the building. The apartment was completely devastated besides some losses to the commercial establishments in the vicinity.”

A fire official privy to the matter said, “Fire engulfed the residential apartment by the time we reached. We helped people to come out and saved the other flats nearby.” Meanwhile, locals alleged that fire brigade was ill-equipped.

They said the fire brigade should have brought a ladder to douse flame on the second floor. The autho rities, however, said it did best to save the building.
