Last year, choreographer Geeta Kapur’s mother, Rani, fell ill and had to be hospitalised for some time. While visiting her mother at the hospital until recently, Kapur got to see the efforts of frontline Covid-19 warriors. Kapur, whose mother is doing better and is back home now, expresses gratitude towards the medical workers and cops. “We can’t thank them enough. They’re managing patients, their families so well. The policemen would check my pass every day. One day, they called up the hospital to clarify my purpose of visit. These people deserve our love and respect,” she says.

The 46-year-old has also requested religious institutions to extend help in spreading awareness about the health crisis. “Be it mandir, masjid or gurdwara, we usually have one priest, pandit or maulavi to take care of the place. I hear ‘azaan’ and that gave me this idea that if these people can come forward and spread awareness, it would be of great help,” Kapur explains.

She also lauds Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for keeping Mumbai clean amid this crisis. “I see BMC workers putting so much effort to keep the city clean. Even as we help those in need, we should make sure that the food packets, plates are thrown in the dustbin,” Kapur says.
