LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday asked his officers to strictly implement the lockdown rules, including maintaining social distancing and ensuring that no crowding took place anywhere in Uttar Pradesh.

Besides remaining alert and taking precautions at every level, police should intensify patrolling, he said.

Reviewing the lockdown at a meeting here, the chief minister said effective police patrolling would also help in preventing road accidents. He underlined the need of foot-patrolling in markets and directed that adequate deployment of traffic police should be made in urban areas, while intensifying patrolling in rural areas.

He told officers to ensure migrant workers were escorted to quarantine centres soon after their safe return and added that they should be scanned and sent to home quarantine with a ration kit, if found healthy. Those who show symptoms should be sent to quarantine centres or isolation wards, he said.

Yogi said about 20 lakh migrant labourers have already returned and in view of their large number, the infra-red thermometers and pulse oximeters should be made available to keep a watch on their health at the quarantine centres.

He said migrant workers should be provided ration cards to ensure that they continue to get food-grains from public distribution system shops, as well. He said they should be given a sustenance allowance of Rs 1000 each during home quarantine. He said the process to give them jobs after home quarantine should be expedited and asked the food and civil supplies department to contribute in providing free food grains to the needy persons.

The chief minister said vigilance committees in rural and urban areas needed to be activated and asked the CM Helpline to remain in touch with the committees to get feedback about surveillance work they have been doing there.

He said continuous dialogue helps in making the system better. In view of this, a senior officer of the rank of additional chief secretary/principal secretary/secretary should be nominated for each district to maintain dialogue with the district officials and guide them as and when required. He said these officers will camp for one week in their respective districts and help the officials.

He said the services of forest and commercial tax department officers may also be taken in this regard.

Yogi urged the agriculture department’s officers to supervise wheat procurement and ensure minimum support price (MSP) to the farmers.

He directed agriculture officials to create more food grain storage capacity at block level in pursuance to the provisions of special economic package announced by the Prime Minister.
