LUCKNOW: The state government on Monday sounded an alert to check the spread of the coronavirus infection as economic activities and vehicular movement increased under ‘Unlock 1’ from Monday.

“There has been an increase in activities across the state after the Unlock 1 from Monday. Now, there is a need for people to remain alert and protect (themselves) from infection. People should follow the Covid protocol, including social distancing, covering the face with mask, sanitisation and regular hand-washing,” additional chief secretary, home, Awanish Kumar Awasthi and principal secretary, health and family welfare, Amit Mohan Prasad said at a joint press conference here. With people now travelling from one state to another due to resumption of train and bus services, the risk of infection had increased, they said.

Prasad said the state health department had directed all the establishments to follow the Covid protocol as factories, offices and commercial establishments resumed functioning.

Patients with co-morbidity like high blood pressure and high sugar level will be admitted in higher facilities for treatment.

The additional chief secretary said chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday directed the officers to implement Covid guidelines strictly, organise regular patrolling in market areas, highways, parks and vegetable markets to check the large assembly of people.

People arriving by trains and buses should be screened and quarantined. The Uttar Pradesh government has urged the Railway Board to distribute handbills among train passengers boarding the trains for UP.

A detailed guideline for protection from coronavirus infection will be mentioned on the handbills. Health teams will screen passengers and those with symptoms will be taken to a quarantine facility for a sample test. If the report is positive, the passenger will be admitted in isolation ward, he said. Awasthi said the ferrying of migrant workers by Shramik Special trains was continuing. Till Monday morning, 1,647 trains brought back 22.40 lakh migrants from various states. Permission for 60 more special trains were granted on Monday.
