Virus spreads to more areas, two new hot spots proposed

Four patients test positive in Gomti Nagar’s Vibhuti Khand, Indira Nagar’s Pani Gaon, Aliganj Sector F and Old City

LUCKNOW: Four people from different localities tested positive for the coronaviru­s in the state capital on Thursday.The new patients are from Vibhuti Khand in Gomti Nagar, Pani Gaon in Indira Nagar, Aliganj Sector-F and Old City area.

One of these patients is a contractua­l staffer of Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS).

After cases were reported from two new localities in the city, the area around Fatima Hospital and an apartment building in New Hyderabad have been proposed as new hotspots. Once the district administra­tion approves the proposal, the number of hot spots in Lucknow would go up to 11.

Chief medical officer, Lucknow, Dr Narendra Agrawal said contact tracing of all these cases had begun and a list of contacts, both close and secondary, were being made. Another patient was admitted to a private hospital in Gomti Nagar. He is a native of Varanasi and the health authoritie­s there have been informed. Yogesh Raghuvansh­i, spokespers­on for the district health department, said 237 samples were collected from suspected cases in different areas of the city during screening.

SEARCH FOR PATIENTS AT LOHIA INSTITUTE

The staff of Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences had a tough time locating two patients, who tested positive for the coronaviru­s, as their details were missing from the test report. After hours of search, the staff located the OPD slips where an Unnao address and other details were mentioned.

Dr Srikesh, spokespers­on for the institute, said both patients had come to the fever clinic on June 2. The health department in Unnao has been informed about the report.
