LUCKNOW : Cricket Association Lucknow on Thursday announced suspension of all its activities in the state capital in view of a rise in Covid 19 cases. The activities were scheduled to start from June 15, including all leagues, permitted tournaments etc.

“We have decided to suspend all our cricketing activities for an indefinite period as a precautionary measure due to the rise in Covid 19 cases.”

“All the clubs/units and even academies are advised not to indulge in and or facilitate any cricket activities until further notice,” CAL secretary KM khan states on Thursday.

It is learnt that most of the private cricket academies have already started their sporting activities ever since the Unlock 1.0 came into effect on Monday and many more were planning to re-launch their activities from June 15.

The Lucknow district administration has already barred the coaching/training at the sporting academies and has warned strict action against the people, if someone violates the norms.

The Lucknow Veterans Cricketers Association too has announced to resume all its activities not before November in view of the pandemic corona virus.

“In our cricket, there are plenty of people aged above 65 years so we have decided to resume our activities not before November as it is quite risky,” LVCA’s administrator KL Chopra said on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the UP Sports Directorate has decided to re-start its sporting activities from June 15 but with some restrictions.

A three-member panel is busy in finalizing the disciplines as most of the sport are contact sport and giving a free hand to all sporting activities would be a risky affair as the virus can infect people with contacts.
