YOGI: PROTECTION ONLY TREATMENT TILL VACCINE IS DEVELOPED

LUCKNOW : CM Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday directed officials to work on further improving the recovery rate of Covid-19 patients in Uttar Pradesh. He said testing of old persons, children and pregnant women should be carried out on priority. Yogi said no effective medicine or vaccine had been developed so far for treatment of Covid-19 patients and therefore protection was its only treatment.

LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday directed officials to work on further improving the recovery rate of Covid-19 patients in Uttar Pradesh. He said testing of old persons, children and pregnant women should be carried out on priority.

Yogi was reviewing Unlock-2 situation at a high level meeting at his official residence here.

Insisting that the increase in testing could help check the spread of Covid-19, Yogi said over 1 lakh tests should be done per day by rapid antigen test method while 40,000 to 45,000 tests per day should be done by reverse transcript­ion polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) method and 2,500 to 3,000 tests per day should be done by TrueNat machines.

He said the director generals (DGs) of the health and the medical education department­s should make all necessary arrangemen­ts as per Covid-19 protocol in all hospitals and medical colleges.

He said both the officers should carry out micro analysis of hospitals and medical colleges to ensure appropriat­e arrangemen­ts. He said the DG health and the DG medical education should maintain regular communicat­ion with chief medical officers and principals of medical colleges respective­ly. He said the regular supply of oxygen, along with 48-hour back-up, should be ensured in all the Covid hospitals.

He said availabili­ty of oxygen should be ensured on all the beds in L-2 and L-3 Covid hospitals.

The chief minister also said the specialist doctors should remain available in L-2 Covid hospitals. He said sufficient quantity of medicines should remain available in Covid and non-Covid hospitals and medical treatment of patients should not be affected.

He said cleanlines­s, sanitizati­on and fogging played an important role in checking the spread of infection and therefore intensive monitoring of this should be done on regular basis.

He said arrangemen­ts for proper disposal of garbage should be made. He said no effective medicine or vaccine had been so far developed for treatment of Covid-19 patients and therefore protection was its only treatment. He said doctors and researcher­s should do a case history of those successful­ly treated and work out an effective treatment method for Covid patients.

He said work to provide jobs to migrant returnees in accordance with skills should be expedited. He said street vendors should be benefitted by the special economic package announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
