Lucknow reports 247 fresh corona cases, four deaths

LUCKNOW: The state capital on Tuesday reported 247 fresh Covid-19 cases and four deaths, including one of a road accident victim.

A 62-year-old man from Civil Lines in Basti died during treatment at the corona ward of the King George’s Medical University (KGMU) on Tuesday. He was admitted on July 23.

“The patient had high blood pressure, diabetes and chronic kidney disease,” said Dr Sudhir Singh, spokespers­on of KGMU.

Singh said the patient went into respirator­y failure and died.

A 50-year-old woman from Gola Bazaar in Gorakhpur, who was admitted to KGMU on July 25, died during treatment.

“The patient suffered cardiopulm­onary arrest and died due to it,” said Singh.

“Over 70% of those who have died in hospitals across Lucknow in the past one week had co-morbidity. Diseases such as diabetes make a person vulnerable against Covid-19,” said Dr Abhishek Shukla, secretary general, associatio­n of internatio­nal doctors.

A victim of road accident also died during treatment. A 40-year-old man, who was brought to King George’s Medical University after a road accident and was admitted to the corona ward on July 25 after his sample tested positive, died during treatment.

“A resident of Basti unfortunat­ely he died due to excessive bleeding in the brain,” said Singh.

Meanwhile, a 65-year-old man admitted to Covid-19 ward of a private medical college also died during treatment.

“Lucknow has till now reported 6,784 cases, including 3,068 patients who have been discharged after treatment. Till now 83 deaths have been reported, which brings the death rate to 1.22 for the state capital,” said Shukla.

Fresh cases were reported in Indira Nagar 15, Gomti Nagar 14, Talkatora 8, Naka 10, Krishnanag­ar 10, Para 3, Sadatganj 5, Mahanagar 6, Husainganj 7, Hazratganj 9, Chowk 5, Aliganj 5, Jankipuram 8, Kaiserbagh 2, Madion 3, Alambagh 2, BKT 6, Sushant Golf City 2, Vikas Nagar 3, Thakurganj 10, Aminabad 2, Kakori 3, Malihabad 3, Nigohan 2.

Cases were also reported from Paper Mill Colony, Matiyari Crossing and Bakshi Ka Talab, including family of a doctor.
