73 more die of Covid-19, UP toll rises to 3,059

LUCKNOW : With 73 more patients succumbing to Covid-19, the death toll due to the viral disease rose to 3,059 in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, while 5,124 fresh cases took the infection tally to 1,97,388. “In the past 24 hours, 5,124 fresh Covid-19 cases were found. There are a total 49,575 active cases while 1,44,754 people were treated and discharged,” said an official.

LUCKNOW:Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday recorded 5,124 fresh coronaviru­s cases, taking the tally to 1,97,506 since the first Covid-19 infection was reported in the state on March 2.

Besides, 73 fatalities were reported in the last 24 hours as the total count of deaths in the state went up to 3,059.

According to official data, 1,44,754 patients have recovered.

The state’s coronaviru­s tally reached 1,97,506 from 1,82,456 within 48 hours.

There were 49,575 active cases on Tuesday against 49,288 on Monday.

Additional chief secretary, health and family welfare, Amit Mohan Prasad said the recovery rate of Covid patients in Uttar Pradesh was 73.33%.

Among the fresh cases, the highest 500 were reported from Lucknow whereas 320 were reported from Prayagraj, 286 from Kanpur, 202 from Gorakhpur, 153 from Varanasi, 146 from Ayodhya, 140 from Moradabad, 128 from Ghaziabad, 124 each from Deoria and Rampur, 116 from Bareilly, 115 from Saharanpur, 103 each from Aligarh and Lakhimpur Kheri.

Among the 75 districts in the state, the lowest fresh cases were reported from various districts including seven from Mahoba, eight from Hathras, nine from Jalaun, 11 from Baghpat, 13 from Bhadohi, 15 each from Hamirpur and Shravasti, 16 from Fatehpur and 18 from Balrampur district.

The deaths were reported from Lucknow (12), Kanpur (18), Varanasi (3), Parayagraj (4), Bareilly (2), Gorakhpur (7), Moradabad (2), Deoria, Ballia and Jhansi (2), Azamgarh (1), Saharanpur (1), Barabanki (1), Ayodhya (1), Gonda (1) Basti (2), Siddharth Nagar (3), Pilibhit (1), Pratapgarh (1), Bijnore (1), Mainpuri (2), Rae Bareli (2), Mau (1), Farrukhaba­d (1), Kaushambi (1), Banda (1), Sant Kabir Nagar (1) and Sitapur (1).
