Lucknow CMO tests +ve, in home quarantine
LUCKNOW : Chief medical officer of Lucknow, Dr RP Singh, tested positive for Covid. “I was feeling fever and rhinorrhea (running nose) resembling Covid symptoms. So, I got myself tested and my report came positive,” said Dr Singh, who is in home quarantine for now. He has appealed to all those who had come into his contact to get themselves tested and remain quarantined.
LUCKNOW: Chief medical officer (CMO) Dr RP Singh and additional chief medical officer (ACMO) Dr Ajay Raja tested positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday and Monday, respectively.
With the two more important pointsmen for the fight against the virus testing positive, health officials expressed concern and said the work of Covid control in the state capital could be affected.
The CMO office is one of the most active government offices of the city as it distributes medicines for Covid patients to all the city hospitals, monitors containment zones, CHCs and PHCs and tracks Covid patients through the Covid Command Centre.
The CMO also monitors the results of Covid samples collected by teams of health department.
Earlier this month a number of top health officials tested positive for the virus, including director general, family welfare, Dr Mithilesh Kumar, vice chancellor KGMU Lt Gen Dr Vipin Puri and registrar, KGMU, Ashutosh Dubey. They are in isolation.
Meanwhile, the CMO office was sanitised. The staff of the CMO office demanded sealing of the office. The district administration is yet to decide on it.
CMO Dr RP Singh said: “I was having fever and rhinorrhea (running nose) resembling the symptoms of Covid so I got myself tested and the result came out positive.”
Singh recently took over the charge of CMO. Lucknow. He is one of the promoters of home isolation in the city.
Meanwhile, Dr PK Gupta of the Indian Medical Association expressed concern over a large number of health officials getting infected.
