LUCKNOW METRO OPS MAY RESTART FROM SEPTEMBER 1
LUCKNOW : The Lucknow Metro will restart operations from September 1 if the with state government gives its nod.
Kumar Keshav, managing director of UP Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC), said: “Delhi Metro is expected to restart operations from September 1 and, if that happens, then Lucknow Metro can also restart functioning from that day for which the government will have to give its approval.”
The Lucknow Metro services were suspended in March due to the Covid pandemic.
Keshav further said: “The Metro staff is all geared up for the resumption of services. Several precautionary measures have been taken by UP Metro Rail Corporation for safety and hygiene of passengers to provide smooth and hassle free travel to them.”
UP Metro Rail Corporation has decided to sanitise all places that passengers come in contact with every 4 hours. The corporation has appealed to commuters to “adopt Metro with social distancing.”
Passengers without masks will not be allowed entry into the metro station and
Aarogya Setu app is a must. Everyone will be required to go through thermal screening before stepping into the metro stations. One seat will have to be left vacant between two passengers.
Keshav said: “Metro will be made safe for commuters. This is an opportunity for UP Metro Rail Corporation to improve safety and hygiene protocols. It’s also an opportunity for switching completely to e-payment and automated ticketing for a contactless travel experience.”
