With 12 deaths, Covid toll crosses 300-mark in Lko

DURING THE DAY 500 people test positive, 800 discharged from hospitals

LUCKNOW : The state capital topped the chart of new corona patients in UP with 500 testing positive for the virus on Tuesday while 12 more patients succumbed to the disease, taking the death toll in Lucknow to 303, said officials.

Among those who died included senior assistant of medical education department, Anoop Varma, a resident of Aliganj, who was admitted to Integral Medical College last week.

During the day, 800 Covid patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery. Lucknow’s infection tally stood at 23,091, according to a press release by the CMO.

Currently, there were 6,660 active cases in the state capital while 16,128 patients won their battle against corona after being discharged from hospitals.

DISTRICTS AFFECTED

Prayagraj reported 320 new Covid cases , followed by Kanpur 286 (it also reported 18 deaths ). Gorakhpur reported 202 cases, Varanasi 153, Ayodhya 146 , Moradabad 140, Ghaziabad 128, Rampur 124 and Deoria 124.

ACTIVE CASES LESS THAN 50K

UP recorded 5,124 fresh cases, taking the infection tally to 1,97,388 while 4,647 patients recovered from the infection on Tuesday. With this, the number of recovered patients went up to 1,44,754 in the state while the number of active cases was 49,575. After 73 more Covid deaths across the state, the number of deaths rose to 3,059.

Over 1.21 lakh samples were tested for Covid-19 on Monday,

taking the total number of tests so far to over 47 lakh and the rate of recovery in UP stood at 73.33%, as per the press release.

HOME ISOLATION

At present, 4,765 patients were in home isolation in Lucknow while 8,655 defeated corona in home isolation. Areas that

reported fresh cases were Indira Nagar 37, Thakurganj 18, Talkatora 16, Hasanganj 10, Chinhat 21, Gomti Nagar 29, Mahanagar 15, Hazratganj 17, Madiaon 15, Rae Bareli road 14, Aliganj 20, Birhana 3, Manak Nagar 7, Krishna Nagar 14, Chowk 19, Alambagh 17, Cantt 21 and Gudamba 12.

LMC office of Zone 8 on Rae Bareli road was sanitised after treasurer Chandra Mohan tested corona positive on Monday. The staff came out of the office demanding closure of the office for two days. Chandra Mohan was the third LMC employee in Zone 8 office to test positive in the past one month.
