Intensive contact tracing drive on in the state

LUCKNOW: The state government has launched an intensive contact tracing drive in all the districts of the state to check the spread of coronaviru­s.

Additional chief secretary, Health and Family Welfare, Amit Mohan Prasad said that on direction of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath the state Health and Family Welfare Department was conducting contact tracing across the state.

People who came in contact with positive cases were being traced and their samples collected for laboratory to check if they had been infected, he said.

The state Health Department had also got external monitoring of contact tracing drive conducted by its teams in various district by the district monitors of the World Health Organizati­on. The WHO teams contacted 1.04 lakh high risk people who came in contact with 29,213 positive cases.

Also, 97,422 people informed that the health teams had contacted them and their sample collected for laboratory test. It clearly showed that the health teams had contacted 93.02% people

under the contact tracing drive. The teams had been directed to collect the sample of the remaining 6.08% people who had not been contacted yet, Prasad said.

Out of the 1.04 lakh people who came in contact of positive cases, the WHO monitors traced 4,813 people who had coronaviru­s infection symptoms.

“About 4,749 people informed the monitors that their sample was collected for the laboratory test, which clearly shows that test of 98.7% of the total symptomati­c people was conducted,” Prasad said.

External monitoring by the WHO indicated that there had

been qualitativ­e improvemen­t in the contact tracing drive in Uttar Pradesh, which was an important factor in the fight against the Covid pandemic, he said.

To intensify the fight against Covid, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed all the district magistrate­s to hold two reviews meeting daily.

The DMs will hold morning meeting in a Covid hospital to review the services provided to the patients, they will hold second meeting in the evening in the Integrated Covid Control and Command Center to review the overall drive launched to check the spread of the virus in the district, Prasad said.
