Yogi lays foundation of 37 state warehouses
LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath digitally laid foundation stones of 37 godowns of 5,000 metric tonnes each of the UP State Warehousing Corporation on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion, the CM said: “Even during corona times, the state government continues bringing in new schemes for the betterment and welfare of ‘annadata (food-grower)’ farmers. Construction of these 37 godowns construction is another living example of this.”
The cooperative department of UP is constructing the godowns for which Yogi did e-foundation laying. Yogi said: “the central and state governments are committed to doubling farmers’ income and that is why farmers who had been leaving traditional farming are returning to it.” He said that godowns had significant value toward the creation of agriculture infrastructure.
Yogi said that storage facilities that would aid increase in farmers’ income should also be available in fruit and vegetable hubs. T he state government had invited even the private sector into the mandi (grains-vegetables-fruits hubs) activities, he said. The CM said the foundation laying of the 37 godowns was part of the progression of the MoU signed in 2018 between the Mandi Samiti and UP State Warehousing Corporation.
Cooperative minister Mukut Bihari Varma said that the government was working with farmers’ interests in mind. He said that the 37 godowns would come up in 27 districts: four in Jhansi, two each in Ballia, Baharaich, Fatehpur, Jalaun, Kanpur Dehat, Rampur, Badaun, and Basti and one each in Ghazipur, Kanpur City, Amroha, Bijnore, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Maharajganj, Sidharthnagar, Mahoba, Banda, Hamirpur, Mirzapur, Bhadoi, Farrukhabad, Auraiyya, Rae Bareli and Kaushambi.
