73 more die, 6,743 fresh cases in UP

LUCKNOW: The Covid count in Uttar Pradesh reached 2,78,594 with over 6,743 fresh cases and death count rose to 4,047 with 73 fresh fatalities. In all 2,11,170 patients have recovered and 63,256 patients are under treatment.

The highest 887 fresh cases were reported from Lucknow that has till now reported 34,333 cases, maximum in a district in the state. Kanpur reported 431 cases, Prayagraj 306, Gorakhpur 287, Ghaziabad 232, Varanasi 200, Gautam Buddha Nagar 236, Bareilly 144, Moradabad 122, Aligarh 156, Meerut 232, Saharanpur 172, Barabanki 159, Ayodhya 131, Rampur 121, Maharajganj 108, Shahjhanpur 107, Muzaffarnagar 111 and Mainpuri 105.

Lucknow reported 9 deaths, Prayagraj 6, Kanpur 4, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Moradabad, Maharajganj, Unnao and Rae Bareli 3 each, Meerut, Jhansi, Ballia, Shahjhanpur, Basti, Sitapur, Chandauli and Fatehpur reported 2 each, Saharanpur, Barabanki, Ayodhya, Rampur, Agra, Azamgarh, Ghazipur, Gonda, Pilibhit, Sant Kabir Nagar, Amoroha, Mirzapur, Sambhal, Amethi, Farrukhabad, Auraiya, Balrampur and Chitrakoot reported one death each.

Additional chief secretary, health and family welfare, Amit Mohan Prasad said 1.43 lakh samples were tested taking the total tally to 67,73,289 lakh.

Out of the total 63,256 active cases in the state 33,386 patients were in home isolation while 3,105 patients were admitted to private hospitals.

The remaining patients were admitted to health facilities run by the state government, he said.
