Districts with max Covid load now showing high recovery rate

LUCKNOW: Districts with the maximum Covid-19 caseload are showing a high recovery rate. At least 11 such districts have a recovery rate close to or above 90%, and experts say this will give time to the health infrastructure for a revamp.

“A fall in fresh cases cannot be a time to relax but it is certainly an opportunity to upgrade the health infrastructure,” said IMA (Lucknow) former president PK Gupta.

Additional chief secretary (health and family welfare) Amit Mohan Prasad said the strategy adopted by the department – the preventive measures combined with the awareness campaign – checked the infection surge.

While the recovery rate of Covid-19 patients in the state increased to 93%, the state government has been able to check the fatality rate, while also bringing down the case fatality rate to 1.46%.

The strategy of the state health and family welfare department to intensify the fight against the Cornavirus infection in the districts that witnessed surge in Covid cases in September, assisted in checking the spread of the infection and improving the recovery rate to 93%.

Prasad said it was good for the state that coronavirus infection peaked in different districts at different dates as the district health machinery fought the infection by providing quality health services. After attending to the peak in all 75 districts, the Covid infection is on decline, he said.

Jhansi, considered the gateway of UP witnessed a spike in Covid-19 cases in September. DM Andra Vamsi said the district was able to check the spread of infection.
