CYLINDER BLAST KILLS 1, INJURES TWO OTHERS

: A 35-year-old man was killed and two others were seriously injured when an LPG cylinder exploded in a housecum-confection­ary shop in Alamnagar under Para police station limits here on Tuesday, said police officials.

The blast was so massive that it turned the shop into debris and also damaged window panes and walls of near-by houses, they said.

Additional deputy commission­er of police (ADCP), South, Suresh Chandra Rawat said that the blast took place inside the house near Alamnagar flyover at around 10.30am.

He said three people, including the two brothers Vijay Gupta and Bablu Gupta, who owned the shop, and their worker Suresh Gupta was buried under the debris. Rawat said that they were pulled out of the debris with the help of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) men and rushed to a near-by hospital.

“Suresh succumbed to his injuries while his two brothers were undergoing treatment at the trauma centre of King George Medical University,” he added.
