VHP LAUNCHES FUND-RAISING CAMPAIGN FOR RAM TEMPLE

: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Friday launched one of its biggest fund collection campaigns for constructi­on of the Ram temple in Ayodhya with chief minister Yogi Adityanath and governor Anandiben Patel donating Rs 2 lakh each. The VHP’s nationwide campaign, Shri Ram Janmabhoom­i Ram Mandir Nidhi Samarpan Abhiyan, will continue till February 27.

President Ram Nath Kovind on Friday contribute­d ₹500,100 for the temple.

Earlier, Adityanath had donated Rs 11 lakh for constructi­on of the Ram temple on March 25 last year when the idol of Ram Lalla was shifted from a tent to a makeshift temple at Ram Janmabhoom­i.

Champat Rai, VHP vice president and general secretary of the Sri Ram Janmabhoom­i Teerth Kshetra Trust, along with others, were present at the CM’s residence on the occasion. Kalyan Singh, the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister under whose tenure the disputed structure was pulled down in Ayodhya by kar sevaks on December 6, 1992, donated Rs 1 lakh.

Surendra Singh, former MLA from Rae Bareli, donated Rs 1.11 crore for constructi­on of the Ram temple.

Mahant Divya Giri of Lucknow’s Mankameshw­ar temple donated Rs 51,000. Several business houses and eminent personalit­ies of Lucknow also donated for the Ram temple.

“To ensure the participat­ion of everyone in the temple’s constructi­on, coupons of Rs 10, Rs 100 and Rs 1,000 have been printed. Lord Ram’s posters and calendars will be distribute­d to each household that VHP cadre visit during the drive,” said VHP’s Ayodhya-based regional spokespers­on Sharad Sharma.

In Ayodhya, the VHP’s campaign started with Dr Anil Mishra, member of the Trust, donating Rs 51,000. Ayodhya mayor Rishikesh Upadhyay donated Rs 5 lakh. A large number of saints in the temple town also donated.

Virendra Mohan Pratap Mishra (Ayodhya naresh), who is also member of the Trust, donated Rs 51,000.

During this campaign, the VHP workers will approach around 12 crore families and 55 crore people.

The temple’s constructi­on is expected to cost around Rs 1,100 crore. The country’s leading constructi­on company, Larsen and Toubro, is constructi­ng the temple without charging any fee.

Experts of Tata Consulting Engineers are also assisting in the constructi­on work.
