SOME ATTACKS ON POLICE

October 24, 2020: Mob attacked a two-member police team in a village in Budaun’s Alapur area, injuring a constable when they went there after receiving reports of gunshots at Kakrala village. August 13, 2020: A subinspector and a constable were injured when a fourmember police team came under attack during a raid to arrest two thieves at Kachhua village of Kaushambi district. August 7, 2020: An inspector and three other police officials were injured after they were allegedly attacked by a temple priest. The incident took place at Mirzapur’s Vindhyavasini temple.

July 3, 2020: Eight police personnel, including a deputy superintendent of police, were killed and seven others injured in an encounter with criminals in Kanpur’s Bikru village.

May 23, 2020: Four police personnel were injured when a police team was attacked while trying to stop a congregation for Friday prayers in Bahraich. May 10, 2020: Seven police personnel on lockdown duty sustained injuries when a group of people attacked them with sticks in Kanpur Dehat.

April 10, 2020: A police team was attacked with bricks and stones during a raid to check the illicit sale of liquor in Chitrakoot district. A subinspector and two constables sustained injuries in the attack on them.

April 2, 2020: Three police personnel were injured when a five-member police team of the Bhopa police station in Muzaffarnagar district was attacked by residents at Morna village with sticks and rods after police objected to a crowd gathering during lockdown

The state police records suggested 130 criminals were gunned down, over 2,900 injured and over 16000 arrested in 7,475 encounters across the state since March 20, 2017. In as many encounters, 1,059 police personnel were injured and 13 killed in retaliatory firing by criminals
