LUCKNOW: The police have booked two teenagers, aged 17 and 19 years respectively, under Uttar Pradesh’s new anti-conversion law, as well as for abduction and rape, in separate cases in Bareilly. The two accused and both their alleged victims are residents of the Nawabganj area in Bareilly.

The 17-year-old juvenile accused is in custody and will be tried as a minor. A student of class 12, he was booked for allegedly abducting a 15-year-old girl student of class 9. The two had met at a coaching centre where they studied.

According to the police complaint lodged by the girl’s father, the boy introduced himself to the girl under a fake name and different religious identity. On February 5, he allegedly abducted the girl and took her to Jaipur in Rajasthan.

“My daughter met the accused at a coaching centre. He told her that he is of our religion and abducted her. Our daughter realised the truth when he forced her to change her religion and marry him,” said the girl’s father.

“When my daughter came to know that he hid his real name and religion, she asked him to leave her. But he raped her before returning to Bareilly on February 8,” the girl’s father added.

Based on the complaint, the police lodged an FIR against the accused for abduction, rape, under POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act and the state’s new anti-conversion law, known as the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Ordinance 2020.

In the other case, the 19-yearman has been accused of abducting a 16-year-old student of class 10 from the Nawabganj area on February 2 and taking her to Bhilwara in Rajasthan.

A police team from Nawabganj visited Bhilwara on February 7 and rescued the girl from there. The girl told the police that the accused hid his identity and raped her on the pretext of marriage. Based on the complaint, the police lodged a case of abduction, rape and under sections of POCSO Act and the new anti-conversion law of the state in the matter on Tuesday.

Commenting on both the cases, Bareilly’s senior superintendent of police (SSP) Rohit Singh Sajwan said, “The accused, who took the girl to Jaipur, is admitted in hospital for some treatment. He has been taken into custody while the other accused has been arrested by the Bhilwara police in the other matter. We are pursuing both the cases.”

PRAYAGRAJ: The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has started providing booking of bus service. The interested person can book his or her bus ticket or even do bulk booking for various prominent cities across the country through IRCTC’s website, said officials.

Till now IRCTC provided facilities for train and flight bookings. Now, anyone can book the bus ticket through IRCTC portal www.bus.irctc.co.in.

For now, this facility is available on its official website but IRCTC is all set to release the mobile app version of the facility in the first week of March, they added. For providing best service in this category, IRCTC has tied up with state road transport corporations as well as with 50,000 private bus operators to cover different destinations located in the 22 states and three union territories of the country, officials added.

Under the bus booking facility, the passengers would be informed about the bus operator and the bus they have to board. They would also be informed about the facilities available on the route, the fare as well as the location of the bus pickup and drop within the city would also be displayed on the website. The passenger would also be informed about the current booking position of the seats. Apart from this, the passenger can also choose their seat for their journey.

Once the ticket is booked and the seat number, boarding and dropping points etc have been selected, the passengers will also get the option of online payment through IRCTC website itself through different payment portal.

“IRCTC is gradually developing as the first government-sector ‘one stop travel shop’ in the country using which the passengers can get all the facilities that they need for travelling in the country,” said IRCTC, public relations officer Anand Kumar Jha.

However, the passengers who want to book bus for Prayagraj may face some inconvenience because of the fact that the name Prayagraj was still Allahabad on the website. Because of this confusion, the passenger may not get any result if they search with the city name as Prayagraj. Therefore, for booking the bus service, the user has to mention Allahabad at the city’s place and not Pryagraj, he said.
