MAN WHO CAUSED A FLUTTER AT TAJ WITH HOAX CALL ARRESTED

AGRA : A 28-year-old man, who allegedly made a hoax call about a bomb on Taj Mahal premises causing a flutter among visitors and security personnel and forcing an evacuation of the premises, was arrested from Firozabad on Thursday afternoon.

The man admitted that he had made the call to the police control room. His family members, however, claimed that he was mentally challenged.

AGRA: A 25-year-old tourist from Delhi suffered a heart attack and died at the western gate of Taj Mahal on Thursday even as security personnel were busy scanning the monument after a hoax bomb call.

The tourist, identified as Namit Kumar, was accompanie­d by his friends when he complained of chest pain and uneasiness and later died, police said.

Police and CISF personnel did their best to revive the tourist but he was declared dead by doctors at the district hospital here.

“The tourist had reached western gate of Taj Mahal. The gates of the monument were closed due to the hoax bomb call and tourists, including Namit, waited in the lawns of Taj for the gates to open,” said Iqbal Haider, incharge of tourist police station at Taj.

“Namit experience­d uneasiness and chest pain and told his friends. Later we were informed and we made all attempts to revive. Later, we took him to district hospital where he was declared dead,” Haider said.
