LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday described the revival of the fertiliser factory as a great gift for farmers and the youth. It was the government’s biggest investment in Gorakhpur, he added.

Skill development centers would also be opened at this fertiliser factory so that the youths got training and employment, he said.

The foundation stone of this fertiliser factory was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2016. It would be dedicated to the nation by him soon, he said.

The prime minister’s vision of a self-reliant India was being realised with a large investment in Gorakhpur as the fertiliser factory had come up at a cost of about Rs 8,000 crore, he said.

“No one expected a new plant in place of a compost factory that had been closed for 26 years, but this has been made possible by the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he said. This fertiliser factory will become a milestone in the supply of fertilisers and chemicals to farmers in a timely manner, he said.

The progress in the agriculture sector and timely supply of fertilisers to the farmers had helped realise the Prime Minister’s vision. Even during the Covid period, the supply of fertilisers was not interrupted and the state government extended cooperation to facilitate the construction of the factory in a time-bound manner, the chief minister said. With the start of his tenure in March 2017, he ensured that there were no obstructions in execution of development plans, he added.

Welcoming Union fertilisers and chemicals minister DV Sadanand Gowda on behalf of the people and farmers of Gorakhpur, CM Yogi said the Union minister maintained a regular review process and took personal interest in the timely commissioning of the fertiliser factory.
