Unidentifi­ed miscreants damage tracks in Kunda

PRAYAGRAJ: Some unidentifi­ed miscreants damaged the rail track on Prayagraj-Lucknow rail route by trying to cut the tracks at four places between Kunda and Manikpur railway stations early on Thursday morning.

A keyman spotted the damage and immediatel­y informed senior railway officials of it. The trains were passed on caution after repair of the damaged tracks. A complaint was lodged in this connection at Manikpur police station. However, no FIR was lodged till the reports last came in. According to reports, keyman Vishwa Vyapak Singh spotted the damage near kilometre number 48 at Bahramai between Kunda and Manikpur railway stations. The miscreants had tried to cut the tracks at four places and had even succeeded in cutting the tracks 4 millimetre deep at one place. The marks indicated that the culprits used sharp saw blade, said officials. The keyman immediatel­y informed senior officials, including PWI Saeed Ahmad and Kunda station superinten­dent VP Shukla, of it. RPF team under inspector Awadhesh Narayan Pandey along with civil police reached the spot. The trains, which were to pass from the route, were halted at different stations. The railway staff started the repair following which movement of trains resumed at 11.05 am on caution.

Permanent way inspector (PWI) Saeed Ahmad said the unidentifi­ed miscreants tried to cut the tracks. RPF divisional security commandant Abhishek Kumar also visited the spot.
