The Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Tirath Kshetra Trust has purchased two plots for improving facilities for devotees. The plots are located around 1.5km from the 70-acre Ram Janmabhoomi campus in Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh where the Ram temple is being built. The trust was set up for the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya after the 2019 Supreme Court verdict paved the way for it.

“The trust has purchased two properties. They will be used for augmenting facilities for devotees coming to Ayodhya from across the country,” said Dr Anil Mishra, a member of the trust. The first plot measuring 10,800 sq feet has been purchased from one Jagdish Shankar for which the trust has paid Rs 25 lakh per 1350 sq feet. The second plot of 5400 sq feet has been purchased from one Deep Narayan for which the trust has paid Rs 1 crore. Both the registries were executed on February 20 last in the name of Champat Rai, general secretary of the trust, at the Delhi address of the trust. According to the trust, process is also underway to purchase two more properties from family members of the late G Purshottam, former vice principal of Maharaja Inter College, Ayodhya. These properties are also around a kilometre from the Ram Janmabhoomi campus.

Survey for expansion of campus

For expansion of Ram Janmabhoomi campus, a survey of properties adjoining it is being carried out. Hriday Ram Tiwari, nayab tehsildar, Nazul department (it looks after govt land), is carrying out a door-to-door survey of houses next to the Ram Janmabhoomi. The survey started from Shanti Bhawan in Duari Kua area up to Vishwmitra Ashram. A list of all houses in the area is being prepared to ascertain ownership of the properties. “The survey is being carried out to find out real owners of these properties. This will help find out whether those residing here are tenants or owners of houses,” said Ayodhya mayor Rishikesh Upadhyay.

Expansion will be in two phases

The proposed expansion of Ram Janmabhoomi campus will be in two phases. In the first phase, around 11000 sq feet land has been identified for allotment to the police department. This land is located behind Ram Janmasthan-Sita Rasoi. This land is in the name of the state tourism department. The Ayodhya administration has already forwarded the proposal for acquiring this land to the state government. The next expansion of the Ram Janmabhoomi campus will be for the power substation. The process to identify land for this expansion has also been completed.
