For sake of motherland, mother sacrifices her son

Play ‘Maa’, based on story of Munshi Premchand, was staged at Sant Gadge Auditorium recently. The act was based on the story set during the British Raj when a mother gives supreme sacrifice of her son for the cause of the country.

Chief secretary RK Tiwari was the chief guest on the occasion. Other special guests included Archana Tiwari, Mahendra Modi, Renuka Mishra, Asma Hussain and Yogesh Kumar.

Organised by Shakti Srijan Welfare Society, the play was conceptualised, written and directed by KK Agarwal. Seema Modi played the role of mother, Navneet Mishra played the role of freedom fighter while the role of son was played by Ayush Upadhyay and Jitendra Kumar. Other actors were Aditya, Sunil Kumar, Suraj Gautam, Sarvesh Kumar, Shivam Mishra, Abhishek Dubey and Monis
