TRADERS EXTEND MARKET CLOSURE TILL THURSDAY
LUCKNOW: City traders have extended the closure of markets till Thursday to break the chain of coronavirus. Sandeep Bansal, president, All-India Udyog Vyapar Mandal, said, “The decision to extend the closure has been taken keeping in view the safety of citizens and to reduce the pressure on the health care system. The decision to re-open markets will be taken after consultation with traders on Wednesday.” Meanwhile, Kishan Chand Bhambwani, president, Hazratganj Traders Association, said, “The HTA has decided to voluntarily close the
market till Thursday. The Lucknow Booksellers Association has taken a decision to close all bookshops in the city till Wednesday, after which the situation will be reviewed.” Aminabad traders too have decided to down shutters till Thursday, as have associations of Swadeshi Market, Mohan Market and Pratap Market. Jaspreet Singh of Aminabad Market Association said the closure decision has been taken by traders with a consensus.
The Janpath Market Traders Association has also decided to close shops in Janpath market till Thursday.
The Chowk Sarrafa Association, Alambagh Traders Association, Bhootnath Market Traders Association, Indira Nagar Traders Association, Patrakarpuram Market Traders Association, Lucknow Electric Merchants Association, Lucknow Mobile Association, Garbarjhala Market Traders Association, traders of Loha Vyapar Mandal, have decided to extend the self-imposed closure till Thursday.
Only the medicine shops and shops selling essential items will remain open.
