TRADERS EXTEND MARKET CLOSURE TILL THURSDAY

LUCKNOW: City traders have extended the closure of markets till Thursday to break the chain of coronaviru­s. Sandeep Bansal, president, All-India Udyog Vyapar Mandal, said, “The decision to extend the closure has been taken keeping in view the safety of citizens and to reduce the pressure on the health care system. The decision to re-open markets will be taken after consultati­on with traders on Wednesday.” Meanwhile, Kishan Chand Bhambwani, president, Hazratganj Traders Associatio­n, said, “The HTA has decided to voluntaril­y close the

market till Thursday. The Lucknow Bookseller­s Associatio­n has taken a decision to close all bookshops in the city till Wednesday, after which the situation will be reviewed.” Aminabad traders too have decided to down shutters till Thursday, as have associatio­ns of Swadeshi Market, Mohan Market and Pratap Market. Jaspreet Singh of Aminabad Market Associatio­n said the closure decision has been taken by traders with a consensus.

The Janpath Market Traders Associatio­n has also decided to close shops in Janpath market till Thursday.

The Chowk Sarrafa Associatio­n, Alambagh Traders Associatio­n, Bhootnath Market Traders Associatio­n, Indira Nagar Traders Associatio­n, Patrakarpu­ram Market Traders Associatio­n, Lucknow Electric Merchants Associatio­n, Lucknow Mobile Associatio­n, Garbarjhal­a Market Traders Associatio­n, traders of Loha Vyapar Mandal, have decided to extend the self-imposed closure till Thursday.

Only the medicine shops and shops selling essential items will remain open.
