UNION MINISTER SEEKS BED FOR COVID +VE ‘BROTHER’, ISSUES CLARIFICATION
LUCKNOW : Union minister of state for road, transport and highways Gen (retd) VK Singh on Sunday afternoon took to twitter to reach out to the district magistrate Ghaziabad seeking a bed for a Covid patient who was unable to get it there. However, his tweet created a lot of buzz prompting Singh to issue a clarification later.
In his tweet at 12.20 pm, the minister wrote, “Please help me. My brother needs bed for Corona treatment. Not able to arrange bed for him in Ghaziabad.” The minister, who is also Ghaziabad MP, tagged BJP Uttar Pradesh vice president Pankaj Singh and chief minister Yogi Adityanath’s information adviser Shalabh Mani Tripathi.
Tripathi replied saying that the DM Ghaziabad will call the minister shortly. The minister later deleted it but by then the screenshot of his tweet had gone viral.
The minister again sent another tweet at 2.29 pm issuing a clarification with the screenshot of his deleted tweet. His tweet read, “Clarification: I tweeted this request so that the district administration can reach the person in need and provide him with the medical care that his brother requires. He is not my brother by blood relation, but by bond of humanity. I think it is an alien concept to some.”
Again at 2.42 pm, the minister again tweeted, “Am amazed at IQ level of trawls and fastest finger channels. Tweet was forward of a tweet to DM and says, “please look into this”. Forwarded tweet is in Hindi. Bed needs have been sorted out by DM and CMO, hence to DM. Suggest correct your understanding.”
Singh, who is also a former chief of the Army staff, again took to twitter at 5:41 pm posting a press release dated June 20, 2020, of Ghaziabad Covid-19 control room helpline numbers asking people to reach out for any help on these numbers which are working 24x7.
