Impose NSA on hoarders of Remdesivir, says Uttar Pradesh Bar Council

LUCKNOW: The Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh has demanded imposition of National Security Act (NSA) on those hoarding or black marketing lifesaving drug Remdesivir.

Prashant Singh ‘Atal’, co-chairman of the Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh, on Monday, took up the issue with the state government.

“In this Covid phase people are hoarding and selling at exorbitant price Remdesivir injection which is a lifesaving drug for Covid positive patients, said Prashant Singh. “The state government must impose NSA on such persons to make sure that the medicine reaches to all needy patients,” said Singh.

The Bar Council co-chairman pointed out that the state government has also taken serious note of the shortage and hoarding of Remdesivir.

“The government has placed an order for 2.75 lakh injections. By Tuesday evening 25000 will be available and remaining will reach here in the next two-three days,” said Singh.

It may be pointed out that all across the state there is acute shortage of Remdesivir injections which are lifesaving drugs for Covid patients suffering from respirator­y problem.

Even hospitals treating Covid patients have reported shortage of Remdesivir and Oxygen gas.
