LMC sanitisation campaign on, gets backing of PGI doc
The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) carried out a sanitisation drive in Eidgah and Ramleela ground, Billauchpura, Nakkhas, Aishbagh water works, Tooriaganj areas on Monday.
Medical experts said if done properly, such sanitisation drives can help kill airborne virus too.
“If sanitised properly then airborne virus could be killed in the air. Disinfectants like sodium hypochlorite could be used to control the spread of virus in the new areas,” said Dr Narayan Prasad, head of department of nephrology at the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS).
The Lucknow municipal commissioner Ajay Dwivedi said till Monday evening, the LMC staff had sanitised around 3.20 lakh houses.
“We have been carrying out the sanitisation drive using 30 mechanised heavy vehicle machines along with 150 handheld machines,” he said.
Dwivedi said around 17000 houses in Eidgah, Ramleela ground, Billauchpura, Nakkhas, Aishbagh, Tooriaganj areas were sanitised.
Additionally, 14000 houses in Sarojini Nagar ward, Haj House, Scooters India, Indian Oil, Amausi, Bajrang hospital were sanitised and around 50,000 houses on Red Cross Road, Kaiserbagh Aminabad, Hazratganj, Lalbagh, Ganeshganj, Naka Hindola, Latouche road, Hewett Road, Bhopal house, Janpath, Narhi, Vidhan Bhavan , Lok Bhavan, Secretariat have also been sanitised, Dwivedi said.
