Mau doc and her brother held in Mukhtar Ansari ambulance case

LUCKNOW: Two people including a Mau woman doctor and her brother were arrested by the Barabanki police on Tuesday morning for their alleged involvemen­t in the fake registrati­on of a luxury ambulance used by Mafioso turned politician Mukhtar Ansari for transporta­tion to court and other places while being lodged in jail, said Barabanki police officials. Barabanki SP Yamuna Prasad confirmed that the Mau based Dr Alka Rai on whose named the ambulance was registered from Barabanki and her brother Shesh Nath Rai, who was guarantor, has been arrested on the basis of findings surfaced up in so far investigat­ion.

The SP stated Dr Alka Rai had confessed in her statement that the ambulance was purchased on behest of Mukhtar Ansari and left for his usage. He said the role of Dr Rai was also confirmed by the statement of Ansari’s aide Rajnath Yadav who was earlier arrested in the matter in April first week.

He said the investigat­ion revealed that the documents used for the ambulance registrati­on had genuine signatures of Dr Alka Rai. He said Dr Rai’s Shyam Sanjeevani hospital in Mau district and her voter ID card was used for the ambulance registrati­on.
