HAVE ENOUGH STOCK OF MEDICAL OXYGEN: MHA

- Malavika PM letters@hindustantimes.com

: The ministry of home affairs (MHA) on Monday asked people not to panic over availability of medical oxygen as the Centre has enough stock, and the transportation to areas with high demand was being addressed.

Addressing a press briefing on Monday morning, Piyush Goyal, additional secretary in MHA, said: “Ghabrayen nahin, panic mat karen (Don’t worry, don’t panic). We have enough stock of oxygen... Transportation is a major challenge which we are trying to resolve by active involvement of all stakeholders”. He said transportation from producing states to highdemand areas is being taken care of with the help of Indian Air Force (IAF).

Goyal said since it was not possible to ferry oxygen-filled tankers by air, IAF planes were pressed into service to airlift empty containers to reduce the turnaround time. Special trains are also being run for faster movement of tankers.
