PM HOLDS REVIEW MEETING ON OXYGEN, HEALTH INFRA, MEDICINES
NEW DELHI: India has increased its Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) production by nearly 60%, and has increased the share of oxygen allocated to states, according to a government statement that cited a toplevel Covid-19 review meeting on Tuesday between Prime Minister Narendra Modi, senior government officials, and members of three empowered groups.
NEW DELHI: Jailed gangster Chhota Rajan, 62, was rushed to AIIMS, Delhi, for treatment after he tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday afternoon, a Tihar prison official aware of the matter said on Tuesday.
Rajan has been lodged in solitary confinement in Tihar since 2015. Officials suspect that he may have contracted the infection from an asymptomatic jail officer. Prison officers said the 62-year-old has comorbid conditions. DG (prisons) Sandeep Goel confirmed Rajan’s hospitalisation. Gangster-tuned-politician and former MP Mohammed Shahabuddin, who was also in solitary confinement at Tihar, contracted Covid-19 and was admitted to a city hospital on April 20.
Till Tuesday, at least 245 of 20,500 prisoners and 91 jail officers at Tihar tested positive in the fourth wave of the infections in the city.
