The peak of the second wave of corona is yet to come, said professor Radha Krishna Dhiman, director, Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS).

Insisting that it may peak by May 15, Dhiman said, “The situation is expected to ease in Lucknow as number of cases are set to drop due to the steps taken by the state government and cooperation by residents, who have started wearing double face masks, washing hands and maintaining social distancing.”

Addressing an online press conference, he said, “Only residents have the power to control corona by following Covid protocols.” He said, “Vaccination is must for everyone. People must go for vaccination as it is going to control the spread of disease and help in reducing the intensity of Covid infection.”

On the use of Remdesivir, he said, “The injection of Remdesivir must be prescribed only in severe condition as there are different protocols for mild, moderate and severe conditions of infection.” He said, “We are providing best treatment to patients getting admitted in Rajdhani Covid Hospital, where we have increased bed strength to 240.”

“We have also arranged a 72-bed facility for the staff and their kin. Our healthcare workers are backbone of the PGI they deserve best treatment when they fall ill,” said Dhiman. He said, “PGI is not only for VVIPs but it is for common man and the only criteria for admission is the condition of the patient.”
