TWO HELD FOR BLACK-MARKETING OF REMDESIVIR

Two persons were arrested for allegedly selling Remdesivir injection, that is currently in huge demand for treatment of Covid-19 patients, at exorbitant rates in Banthra area of Lucknow on Tuesday, police said.

Two vials of the injection were recovered from the accused-- Vikas Singh and Altaf Alam, said Lucknow Commission­er of Police DK Thakur.

Thakur said, “We are trying to identify people who were in touch with the accused and supplied them the injection.”

Remdesivir is being sold in black market following spike in Covid-19 cases across the country.

To stop its sale in the black market, the state government has announced to slap NSA and Goonda Act against the those found involved in illegal sale of the injection.

The arrest came as part of ongoing crackdown against those involved in sale of Covid-19 drugs in black market. More than 45 people have been arrested so far across the state in the last 10 days, according to home department officials.
