BJP MP, other leaders write to CM on oxygen crisis in Meerut

- HTC

A section of BJP leaders in Meerut have written to chief minister Yogi Adityanath about prevailing shortage of oxygen, beds and life-saving drugs and appealed him to ensure adequate supply of oxygen and other necessary requisites in hospitals.

The district has 30 hospitals, including LLRM Medical College, with around 3000 beds to cater to Covid-19 patients. But the surge of cases in second wave of Covid 19 has made these arrangements insufficient as more than 1,500 people are testing positive almost on a daily basis, said leaders.

In past 27 days more than 15,000 people have tested positive and in records of health department more than 30 persons have lost their lives but records of cremation grounds show more deaths. Under such prevailing conditions, BJP MP from Meerut-Hapur Lok Sabha seat Rajendra Agarwal has written a letter to chief minister appraising him about worsening situation here.

Aggarwal has written that being an important centre of medical facilities patients from neighbouring districts also come to Meerut for treatment and during the crisis of pandemic their numbers have increased manifold. Under such circumstances demand of oxygen in hospitals has also increased and presently it has gone up to 32 metric ton every day, but hospitals are getting only 10 MT oxygen.

Party’s city president Mukesh Singhal also has written a letter in this regard to minister-incharge Shrikant Sharma.
