321 MT oxygen supplied to hosps, refill centres in a day, says govt
ON TUESDAY, 64 TANKERS RUN BY FSDA & 20 TANKERS OF VARIOUS HOSPITALS TRANSPORTED OXYGEN ACROSS THE STATE
: The state government on Tuesday supplied 321 metric tonnes (MT) of oxygen to Covid hospitals, government and private, and refilling centres in various districts, the state authorities said here on Wednesday.
Oxygen was being transported by road (oxygen tankers), rail (Oxygen Express trains) and air (Indian Air Force’s C 17 aircraft) from various locations in the country to Uttar Pradesh to augment supply, they added.
Additional chief secretary (Home) Awanish Kumar Awasthi said a control room had been set up in the state home department on the directions of chief minister Yogi Adityanath to monitor 24x7 oxygen supply to hospitals and medical colleges across the state.

Senior officials of the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA), transport, home, health and medical education departments were managing the supply of oxygen to hospitals in various districts, he said.
Earlier, the state government had supplied 600 metric tonnes of oxygen to hospitals and refill centres. The central government has allotted 850 metric tonnes of oxygen to Uttar Pradesh. On Wednesday, the Centre also allotted five new oxygen tankers of 70 MT capacity. The tankers have been airlifted to oxygen plants in West Bengal and they will be transported back to UP with oxygen, Awasthi said.
Till Monday, 20 tankers were supplying oxygen to the hospitals. On Tuesday, 64 tankers run by FSDA and 20 tankers of various hospitals transported oxygen across the state, he said.
Oxygen Express trains had transported oxygen from Bokaro and INOX plants in Jharkhand, saving valuable time. Oxygen tankers will be airlifted from Ghaziabad and Agra on Wednesday and from Lucknow on Thursday, he said.
The oxygen tankers are being escorted by police. The state government has launched a digital platform — Oxygen Monitoring System — for Uttar Pradesh.
