3 HOSPITAL STAFF AMONG SIX HELD FOR SELLING O2 CYLINDERS, REMDESIVIR

LUCKNOW: Six persons, including 3 staff of a private medical college, were arrested by police in Lucknow and Moradabad districts for selling oxygen cylinders and Remdesivir injection on exorbitant rates to people.

In Lucknow, the Jankipuram police arrested one Rinku Singh, Saurabh Singh and Rahul Giri on Wednesday and recovered 12 oxygen cylinders from their possession. The accused, according to police, were selling liquid oxygen to relatives of critical Covid patients on exorbitant rates.

DCP Raees Akhtar said, “The accused were carrying the cylinders in vehicle on which they roamed in different parts of the city and gave oxygen to people in dire need on very high prices. We came to know about their operation after a family member of Covid-19 patient informed us.”

The accused were booked under various sections of IPC and sent to prison. The oxygen cylinders recovered from the accused were handed over to the health department. In a similar action, three hospital staff of a private medical college was held for smuggling Remdesivir injection. “The three accused were nursing assistant and other staff at a private hospital. They were arrested on Tuesday for smuggling Remdesivir injection outside the hospital for sale in black market,” said Prabhakar Chaudhary, SP, Moradabad.
