KANPUR: People in dire need of oxygen here are being provided the same for two to three hours at makeshift places. And they are calling these as ‘oxygen langars’.

Harvinder Singh Lord, president Guru Singh Sabha Kanpur, said one such langar was held outside the Gumti Gurudwara, while more would be held in the next few days at different locations here-- Govind Nagar gurudwara being one of them.

“Commissioner of police Aseem Arun helped us arrange 15 cylinders at one place, out of which eight were used on Tuesday and seven today. We will get all them refilled,” he said.

The Kanpur Sikh Sangat arranged for the beds at the camps.

On the first day, a total of 60 people took oxygen at the ‘langar’ and the number nearly doubled on Wednesday. The sabha had to arrange more cylinders apart from the ones given by the police,” he said.

“This is a free service made available to people from 10 am to 6 pm. But people must come to the camp to avail the facility. No one will be allowed to carry cylinder home,” he said.
