Oxygen tanker sent by Chhattisgarh CM on Priyanka’s request reaches Lucknow hospital
LUCKNOW: A tanker of liquid medical oxygen (LMO) sent by Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel on the request of Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra arrived here and refilled a private hospital’s liquid oxygen tanks on Wednesday, said UP Congress chief Ajay Kumar Lallu in a tweet.
In the tweet in Hindi with a video of the tanker’s arrival at the hospital, Lallu said: “On the request of Priyanka Gandhi ji, Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel sent an oxygen tanker which was received here at the hospital. In the war against Covid, Congress is doing its bit to save lives of people.”
In another tweet, Lallu said: “In these times, when people are dying in the pandemic for lack of treatment and doctors, health workers and doctors are posted on election duty. Chief minister Yogi Adityanath should answer on whose direction all this is happening and act against those responsible.”
He said the party was diligently helping those in need of oxygen and other crucial equipment amid the Covid-19 pandemic. “We have also sent oxygen concentrators to many requiring the life-saving gas at their homes,” the Congress leader added and also posted pictures of him giving oxygen concentrators (with the stickers of UP Congress Help Desk pasted on them).
On Sunday, the Congress government in Chhattisgarh announced it was sending oxygen for a private hospital in Lucknow. The announcement had led to a war of words between the Congress and the BJP.UP BJP spokesman Navin Srivastava had taken to twitter to target the Congress leadership, wondering if the tanker on which oxygen was being sent to the state was “real”.
“Is it actually a tanker? Last time, instead of buses, the numbers of auto and motorcycles were given,” Srivastava tweeted, reviving memories of the bitter controversy that broke out last year. Back then, BJP claimed there were flaws in the Congress’s offer to send buses to bring back such migrant labourers who were stuck on UP borders due to nationwide lockdown during the first corona wave. “Priyanka ji shouldn’t be engaging in political stunts,” BJP lawmaker Deomani Dwivedi had said, reacting to the Congress leadership’s criticism of the state government’s handling of Covid situation in the state in general and the “oxygen crisis” in particular.
