Three held for black marketing of oximeters

LUCKNOW : The Lucknow police on Wednesday night unearthed a racket of black marketing of pulse oximeters following their high demand during the surge in Covid-19 infection, said senior police officials here on Thursday. They said the police arrested three people, including a local trader, in Alambagh area and seized 533 pulse oximeters from their possession. Inspector of Alambagh police station, Ashok Kumar Singh said those arrested were identified as Mahroof Ahmad, Aqeel Ahmad and Amit Kumar Sahu. He said Ahamd was associated with the medical line for past many years and used to pose himself as a doctor.

Singh said investigat­ion revealed that the pulse oximeters recovered were duplicate and Mahroof Ahmad and Aqeel Ahmad were selling them to different traders in the name of original. He said the duo had come to deliver the oximeters to Sahu for black marketing when the trio landed in the police net. The inspector said the accused used social media platforms to trap people in urgent need of oximeters.
