BJP MLA’s letter to CM over party functionary’s death goes viral
LUCKNOW : A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lawmaker has written to chief minister Yogi Adityanath on the death of a party functionary at a government hospital in Bhadohi. The MLA has also claimed that the party functionary was mocked at and denied medical facilities that his deteriorating health demanded.
The letter (now gone viral) by Dinanath Bhaskar, BJP lawmaker in Bhadohi’s Aurai assembly segment, has forced the district health authorities to visit the Maharaja Balwant Singh Government Hospital in Bhadohi, where the BJP Bhadohi district general secretary Lal Bahadur Maurya died five days after being admitted there for Covid-19 infection.
The BJP lawmaker claimed apart from the poor health infrastructure, the treatment meted out to the BJP functionary at the hospital was equally shocking. He demanded setting up of an inquiry into the death of the party leader.
District’s chief medical officer Dr Laxmi Singh, who inspected the hospital, has since promised an investigation into the charges made by the ruling party lawmaker.
Maurya, resident of Udhanmafi village, was admitted to hospital, a level 2 facility, on April 22 after testing positive for Covid-19. “I visited the BJP leader’s family after his death. They told me that Maurya kept on demanding that his condition required ICU treatment. He wasn’t administered Remdesivir either. His family told me how a doctor mocked at the party leader, telling him the chief medical officer will come to see him because he was from a ruling party... his children started crying while narrating their woes,” the MLA claimed in his viral letter.
