LUCKNOW: Samajwadi Party (SP) national president Akhilesh Yadav on Friday said that the BJP governments at the centre and the state have brought worldwide infamy to the country by their Covid mismanagement.

“In BJP rule one may not get medical treatment but would get free of cost cremations (and burials),” Akhilesh remarked.

“So much so that several countries have issued an advisory to their citizens to not to travel to India and several others have even asked their citizens living in India to return,” said Akhilesh, in a press statement.“The BJP governments have sullied India’s image globally,” he added.

“Yet, the BJP government is immersed in its arrogance and adamancy. And instead of seeking cooperation from the opposition, is busy bad-mouthing them. While many other countries controlled pandemic by public cooperation, here, in the game of gaining credit all alone, the governments are playing with the lives of people,” Akhilesh said.

The former chief minister said that the way there was chaos and struggle for getting a bed in hospitals or running around for getting oxygen were extremely saddening and deplorable.

“Fake telephone numbers are being publicised, oxygen suppliers were not taking phone calls, red-tapism is at its zenith at CMO offices, lack of medicines in hospitals, yet the government was openly spreading lies. The government is even fudging data of the number of people dying of Covid to show fewer deaths,” he said.

“How inhuman could the BJP government be is well demonstrated by the death of 706 teachers on panchayat election duties in the state. Over 10,000 teachers are infected with Covid. Even hospital staff are not getting Covid treatment. People are dying outside hospitals or stretchers,” he said and demanded ₹50 lakh compensation to the teachers and journalists who have died of Covid.

HE SOUGHT ₹50L COMPENSATION TO THE TEACHERS AND JOURNALISTS WHO HAD DIED OF COVID.
