“I am happy to announce on the occasion of Labour Day today that the state government has taken two steps towards fulfilling its pledge for social security to labourers. In case an unfortunate accident occurs, your family would get ₹2 lakh that would be a great help to them. Soon you will not feel troubled about medical treatment as you will be given health cover up to Rs 5 lakh. The schemes will be launched soon. Both the schemes would be significant towards your social security,” Yogi said.

Addressing the workers, Yogi said: “The pandemic is raging and is 30 to 50 times more intense than the first wave. Obviously, you people will face some hardships, but the government is also making efforts for your welfare. Do cooperate with the government. Also take care against Covid while you work, follow guidelines.”

Yogi said that during the first wave, the state government gave livelihood allowance to 54 lakh labourers. “Don’t worry, this time too the government will launch free ration scheme from May 5”, he said and told them that last year more than 40 lakh migrant workers had returned to the state. The government had set up a commission for them and had arranged for their health and employment. Yogi also briefed them about the government scheme for mass weddings of their daughters, Atal residential schools for their children and Abhyudaya coaching scheme for preparing their children for competitive exams such as IAS, IPS, etc.
